Project Visuals Editor and Mentor
I coached five college students on developing their visuals for the web during a week long hands-on multimedia training project to produce a story of their choice that they pitched at the beginning of the week. I visited each student at their shoots to help them find the best storytelling images using their phone or camera. At the end of the week, we worked together with their editor to select the best images and present them in a web layout. I also copy edited the final drafts of their stories.

Path to the Pipeline | The Roanoke Times

Photographer, Video Producer, Photo Editor
I initiated the idea to create a landing page for coverage of the Mountain Valley Pipeline, which began its 303-mile natural gas line proposal in 2014 and is still ongoing today in Virginia and West Virginia. For three years in addition to my daily work, I collected video footage of voices on both sides of the issue. I also edited the photo galleries by year. All stories written about this issue are tagged to appear on this landing page.

Lead Photographer, Photo Editor
An example of long form storytelling a reporter and I completed that involved tight time constraints. We took two days to cover ground in this region and the digital team created a visual package with my photo editing assistance.
